Product Description

The excursion starts with Piazza del Popolo. An oval piazza shaped that has undergone many modifications over the centuries. In 1816-1820 Giuseppe Valadier completed the square with semicircular walls making this square  the only neo-classical piazza of Rome.

Moving up to the Pincio  you will appreciate a Neo-Classical landscape garden designed by Giuseppe Valadier at the beginning of the 19th century and  the gardens of some old Roman families, including the one of Pinci’s family who gave the name to the place. The Pincio, with its broad side walks lined by pine trees, palms and evergreen shrubs, has always been a popular place to walk. To finish off this exciting part of the tour, the guide will point you out the view from the Pincio over Piazza del Popolo.

Walking towards south, you will reach the famous Piazza di Spagna (the Spanish Steps). The monumental stairway, in three sections, begins with a broad ascent of three flights of steps, follow in the central section by further flights curving in and out and leading to the broad ascent to the church of SS. Trinita’ del Monti at the top.

Then, heading down to Piazza di Trevi, you will be guided to one of the most famous square to enjoy the most famous fountain in the world, Trevi Fountain. So, as the legend goes, you must throw a coin in the fountain and make a wish.

To keep on the excited mood, we will be visiting the Piazza della Rotonda where the Pantheon found home since 27 BC. The Piazza della Rotonda was, in the Roman period, a working class quarter.

After  we will moving to the probably Rome’s most famous square for the Dolce Vita. Today, Piazza Navona retains the form of a stadium which was originally used for games and sporting competitions and, just later, for animal fights and gladiatorial combats.

The walking tour terminates with Campo de’ Fiori which lies northwest of the Capitol. The papal old town was built here in the late middle ages, with its two central markets, Piazza Navona and Campo de’ Fiori.
